Bike Sharing and Sustainable Transportation in Florence

Sustainable transportation refers to any means of transportation that is ‘green’ and has a low impact on the environment. It is generally accepted that sustainable transport implies finding a proper balance between (current and future) environmental, social and economic qualities. Examples of sustainable transportation include walking, cycling, transit, carpooling, car sharing, and green vehicles.

Keeping this in context, the Municipality of Florence (Comune di Firenze) recently announced the arrival of a fleet of 1,500 bicycles (in Italian bici) and 650 e-bicycles for the tourists and residents of Florence.
